Vehicle Tracking Solutions Selected As Preferred Vendor For NY Taxi And Limousine Commission's Mandated Electronic Record System

DEER PARK, NY - Vehicle Tracking Solutions (VTS), a leading provider of automatic vehicle location (AVL) and fleet monitoring solutions, was recently selected as a preferred vendor listed by the NY Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) as part of a recent mandate requiring all paratransit vehicles licensed in the city of New York to be equipped with GPS tracking.
According to New York's TLC, starting August 1, 2008, all paratransit vehicles, such as ambulettes and non-emergency medical transportation vehicles, must begin using an electronic record system. There are currently 181 ambulette companies with approximately 1,500 paratransit vehicles affected by this mandate.
An electronic trip record system consists of hardware and software that collects and stores pickup and drop off information for each paratransit vehicle. The TLC requires this information be sent on a monthly basis to ensure Medicare and Medicaid are being billed properly. Customers using Vehicle Tracking Solutions' easy-to-use in-cab red and green push buttons can capture this information which includes a date/time stamp, street address, latitude/longitude and a notation of either pick-up or drop-off. Vehicle Tracking Solutions then creates a report based on this information and sends it to the TLC automatically, at no additional charge.
